Keegan Thomas Hale  October 19, 1990 – August 24, 2025

Keegan Thomas Hale passed away surrounded by family and was welcomed into the presence of Jesus on August 24, 2025. Born on October 19, 1990, in Columbus, Ohio, Keegan was raised in Westerville and attended Westerville City Schools. A gifted student, athlete, and loyal friend, he graduated from Westerville North High School in 2009 and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2013. He began his career with the City of Powell.

In 2016, Keegan followed a deeper calling and joined the staff at Dwell Community Church, devoting himself to full-time ministry. His love for Jesus shaped every part of his life. Keegan radiated hope and joy through his unshakable faith in God’s promises, and he longed for others to know the good news of God’s acceptance for all who trust in Him.

In 2018, Keegan met the love of his life, Michaelyn (“Mikie”) Mahoney. Their first date grew into a deep and enduring bond, and they were married a year later. In October 2020, Keegan was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Just days later, Mikie learned she was pregnant with their daughter. Blake Marie Hale was born in June 2021. From that moment on, Keegan made it his mission to fill each day with love, joy, and lasting memories for Mikie and Blake.

Even in the face of suffering, Keegan remained faithful, loving, courageous, and grateful. To the very end, he was concerned with the well-being of others. He was deeply thankful for all those who surrounded him with service, support, and love.

Mikie not only walked beside Keegan as his wife but also served as his devoted caregiver. Keegan’s sister Ali and her family graciously opened their home to help care for Keegan’s family as his needs increased. Keegan’s many friends were a constant presence—offering help, companionship, and encouragement. To all who walked with Keegan through these last five years, the family offers heartfelt thanks.

Keegan is survived by his beloved wife, Mikie, and their daughter, Blake; his parents, Tad and Jenny Hale; his brother, Peter Hale, and wife Kate; his sister, Alison Mathias, and husband Kelson; nieces Natalie, Clara, Emma, and Evelyn; and nephews Thaine and Bruce.

In accordance with Keegan's wishes, his favorite snacks and drinks will be served at the Celebration of Life, which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Dwell Community Church, 1390 Community Park Drive. Friends may call on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio 43081.

Psalm 145 describes the legacy of the Hale family in general and Keegan specifically. Each and every Hale family member has exalted God as their King and extoled His Name ! Each generation of the Hale family tells of the glorious splendor of God's majesty and His amazing Grace to others and Keegan absolutely knew Jesus deeply! And little Blake and precious Mikie, please know my deepest condolences and sadness for Keegan being gone. In the midst of life Psalm 145:13 states God's kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does. You're in our prayers. Love in Christ, Jane Norris

As a ministry team leader it was a joy to serve under Kegan’s caring leadership in adult ministries at the fellowship. I will be forever grateful that he challenged me to raise the Helping Hands ministry to accredited status. This has had a great impact on serving the community and my spiritual growth. My sincere condolences for your loss of a man who helped so many.

I am so sorry to hear about Keegan‘s passing. He was a wonderful coworker and co-op at ODOT. He always had a vibrant love for the Lord, and it was evident daily in the workplace. He will truly be missed, but we all know he is definitely at peace in God‘s arms.
