Kathryn L. Simkins, age 91, of Gahanna, OH went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Born in Ashley Ohio, Kathryn moved to Columbus in 1945. Retired from Beneficial Finance and Payne Brown Insurance. Volunteered at St. Ann’s Hospital gift shop. An avid gardener. Loved crochet, sewing and quilting. A great cook and baker. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles Gilbert and LuLa Adams. Kathryn was the last survivor of the five Adam’s children. Survived by her children, Jeannine Izolt, David (Mona) Simkins and Kimberly Simkins; grandchildren, Jennifer (Luis) Castrillo, Michelle Merrell and Jessica Simkins; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isabela, Cole and Alison; close nephews and their families; as well as her lifelong friends. A service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4th at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville where the family will greet friends one half hour prior to the service. Dr. Jeffrey Wilcox officiating. A private family interment will be held at Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
