June Laverne Roush, age 83, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. She was born on June 1, 1941, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Albert Rase and Elsie Rase.

June graduated from Green High School in 1959 and earned a degree in Primary Education from Ohio University in 1964. And she taught elementary-aged students for several years.

In 1968, June married Carl B. Roush, Jr. They built a home in New Albany and raised their sons, Jason (1970) and Mark (1972), until his untimely death in 1985. June was a dedicated and supportive mother. She attended every soccer, baseball, and basketball game that her boys ever played, always cheering them on with love and pride.

In her younger years, she travelled extensively. She had many hobbies including sewing, quilting, painting, and working on puzzles. An avid reader, June was never short of a good romance novel. She was also a devoted fan of Ohio State Basketball, recording every game and always watching the replays.

June shared a very close bond with her sister, Joanne Oakes. They have been the best of friends their entire lives, always supporting each other. Joanne and her late husband Loren always welcomed June to the family farm, where she spent extensive time with her beloved nieces (Amy, Kelly) and nephews (Brian, Brett) and their families.

A lover of the arts, June found great joy in the theater. She volunteered for many years with the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA). June was a lifelong active member of the Lutheran Church. When her health permitted, she attended Sunday Services and enjoyed quilting with her dear friends on Wednesdays.

June is survived by her sons, Jason Roush, and Mark Roush, and his wife, Lyn; her grandchildren, Hannah, Mya, and Clare; her beloved sister, Joanne Oakes; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. June's kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

June, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and beloved friend, will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on February 8, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 East Walnut St, Westerville, OH 43081. Family will receive guests at 11:00 AM for a visitation. A service will follow at 12:00 PM, with a luncheon for those who wish to stay. There will be an additional service in Franklin Furnace where she will be laid to rest in the Spring.
