LEWIS
Joseph T. Lewis, age 88, of the Toledo, Ohio area passed peacefully October 11, 2012. Born October 29, 1923 in Ontario Canada. Retired from Gulf Oil Corporation after 41 years. Joseph spent many years as a seaman serving proudly in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a very gifted person, self taught in all of his talents from building engines to garages. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, funny cars and anything to do with space exploration and the Space Shuttle program. He was ornery yes, but a tenderhearted soul; everyone loved him. Survived by his children, Cheryl (Larry) Inskeep, Patti (Jim) Baker, Michael (Dora) Lewis and Terri (Jim) Zemnicki; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Connie Hall, Patrick (June) Lewis, Gwen Wertenburger and William Lewis; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Ila (Snyder) Lewis, parents, Joseph and Mary Lewis, and brother, Kenneth, sisters, Betty and Jane. Service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel, 3665 Genoa Park, Perrysburg, OH Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 1 p.m..
