John R. Clayton, age 79, lifetime resident of Centerburg, OH passed away May 3, 2015 at Grant Hospital. Graduate of Centerburg High School. Johnny was a local handyman and a friend to all. He loved bluegrass music and attended many concerts with his close friend Lynn McCann. U.S. Army veteran and member of American Legion and Centerburg United Methodist Church, also a very active member of the Centerburg Senior Center and Ohio Horse Council which he enjoyed very much. Johnny was a huge OSU fan. Survived by his sisters, Deanna Taynor, Darlene (John) Morton, Barbara (Garry) Graham, Jinny Holloway and Shirley Carr; brothers, Bill (Judy) Pruitt and Steven Pruitt; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother, Ione Clayton Pruitt, brother, Tom Pruitt and grandparents, Emery and Bessie Clayton. Memorial service will be held at Centerburg United Methodist Church, 65 S. Hartford Street, Centerburg, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 9 a.m., Pastors Brittany Wooten, Jeff Perry and Mark Tuggle, officiating. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Eastview Cemetery on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11 a.m.. Arrangements by JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, Centerburg, OH.

Johnny will be missed. he’s a huge part of Centerburg. I always looked forward in Johnny tracking me down when I came into town. I will miss him always.

My late husband (Don Dean) enjoyed working with John in the KCJVC. He was a dear man and will be greatly missed. They (Don and John) will watch over us.
