Joan Ellen Hassler, 89, of Westerville passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by Robert Hassler, the love of her life and husband of 54 years; parents, Fred and Grace Becker; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Donald Dover; and sister-in-law, Kaye Becker.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Thomas Stone, of Westerville; son, Michael Hassler, of Westerville; grandchildren, Wendy (James) Madewell; Andrew (Marybeth) Stone; Sean (Miranda) Hassler and Sarah Hassler; great grandchildren, Olivia and Harrison Stone; brothers Fred (Rose) Becker and Robert Becker; sister-in-law, Dixie Hassler and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westerville for 18 years, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. A 1952 graduate of Linden McKinley H.S., Columbus, Joan received a journalism award in the Columbus Chamber of Commerce High School Essay Contest. For over 18 years, she was an optometric assistant at Gahanna Vision Center.

Visitation at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Monday, May 6 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 E. Schrock Road, Westerville with visitation at 10 a.m., Pastor David Wendel presiding, with a luncheon to follow. Interment at Blendon Central Cemetery.

Tammy and Mike, was shocked to see your mom’s obit today. Via c and I both send our condolences. Your mom was such a good friend. We had a lot of good times. I did her hair for years and we played cards for years. The last few years we lost touch. Now she will be reunited with your dad❤️
