James Russell Kirkpatrick, age 81, passed away February 12, 2024. James, Jim, born to William J. and Caroline Kirkpatrick on February 9th, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Westerville High School, and had a love for farming. He joined the Army Reserves and fulfilled his duty served. He began farming in Columbus, Ohio with his 3 brothers. He later moved to Johnstown, Ohio and continued farming until 1997. He married Mary J. Miller on June 26th, 1966 and just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife and two children, Suzanne R. Kirkpatrick of Columbus, Ohio, and James D. Kirkpatrick (Nicole J. Kirkpatrick), of Lima, Ohio, two grandsons, Austin D. Smith and Aaron Kirkpatrick, granddaughter, Jordan Kirkpatrick, and two step-grandsons, Collin F. Underwood and Dillon R. Underwood. Also surviving, brother, John Kirkpatrick of Columbus, Ohio and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Jim Kirkpatrick was a member of many organizations; Young Farmers of Franklin and Licking Counties, Farm Bureau Association, and C & O Railroad Historical Society. Jim was also a truck driver for many years and loved exploring the roads and towns of America. He was an avid collector and enthusiast of model railroad trains and model tractors. Jim was known to have never met a stranger. Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.. Graveside service and interment at Blendon Central Cemetery, 6330 Hempstead Road in Westerville Wednesday at 11 a.m.
