James A. Phipps, age 92, of Westerville, passed away May 14, 2014 at The Bluffs in Columbia, MO. Retired from North American Rockwell and Ingersoll Rand. 50 year member of Sunrise Loge #783 F & AM, Eastern Star, Loraine Chapter. Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe, also employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Born April 11, 1922 in Clintwood, VA to Walden and Cora Lee Stanley Phipps. Survived by son, Charles (Barbara) Hoyle; daughter-in-law, Karol Hoyle; grandchilden, Kevin (Jen) Hoyle, Caryn (Deric) Butler, Dustin and Ryan Hoyle; great-grandchildren, Alex and Zachary Butler, Reagan Hoyle; brothers, Everett (Meg) and Raymond (Kathleen) Phipps; sister, Dora (Dick) DeFossett; many nieces and nephews. Jim shared 58 years of his life with his loving other half, Mary Phipps who preceded him in death; also preceded by son, Bobby Hoyle; his parents, his step-mother, Lula Phipps; brothers, Edgar, Mason and Vernon Phipps; sisters, Alva Hicks and Alcie Hurt. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.. Interment Northlawn Memory Gardens. Masonic service Wednesday 7:30 p.m.. Contributions may be made to Masonic Lodge #783.
