James E. Grunkemeyer, age 90, of New Albany, passed away August 4, 2026, in New Albany. He was born August 4, 1936, in Columbus, OH, the son of the late Charles Grunkemeyer and Rosetta Evelyn (Plymal) Grunkemeyer. He was married on February 22, 1958 to Bette (Whittingham) who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Teresa (Mike) Brown, Lorrie (Dave) Morgan and Jim (Diana) Grunkemeyer; four grandchildren, Tania (Chad), Tom (Michelle), Tony (Mia) and Alex, and the great grandchildren, Austin, Tom and McKenzie.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John.
Mr. Grunkemeyer was a member of Church of the Resurrection in New Albany and was a skilled machinist for Rockwell, McDonald Douglas and Battelle. He was a curator of Jazz Music with a love for family and pizza.
Friends may call from 10:00am- 11:00am Friday, August 7, 2026, at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E Dublin Granville Road, New Albany, OH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 11:00am. Burial will conclude in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lewis Center.
