James Walter Daily, age 98, passed away on Thursday December 16, 2010 at
Worthington Christian Retirement Village in Columbus. Walter was born to the late Arthur & Carrie Daily in New Albany, Ohio on November 15, 1912. Walter graduated from New Albany High School in 1930 and married his high school sweetheart Bernadine Frances Schott on April 27, 1935. In their early married life, they followed Walter’s work as a furrier with Federated Stores and lived in Clintonville, Dayton, Milwaukee and Albany, New York. In 1943 they returned to New Albany where they raised their three children and were active members of the Westerville St. Paul Lutheran Church. In addition to family and church, Walter was very interested with and provided financial support to the WCVO Radio Station in New Albany, the Wycliffe Bible Translating Society and Lutheran Social Services. Past memberships include the New Albany Senior Citizens, the Lutheran Brotherhood and the New Aany Historical Society.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine Frances (Schott) Daily, his parents Arthur & Carrie Daily, brother Clark Daily and sister Elizabeth (Daily) Shockey. He is survived by children; Jim Daily (Roswitha Daily), Gerald Daily (Janet Freeman-Daily) and Barbara Evangelista (Vince Evangelista). Grandchildren; Christopher Daily, Laura Daily, Michelle Burkey, Mike Daily, Cynthia Daily, David Freeman, Andrew Evangelista and James Evangelista. great grandchildren; A.J. Evangelista, Ellen Evangelista and Daniel Evangelista; many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday December 21, 2010 at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road Westerville. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 22, 2010 at Westerville St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 E. Walnut Street Westerville, Ohio 43081. Pastor Charles Woodward officiating. Interment will be at the St. Paul Cemetery two miles west of the church on Walnut Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worthington Christian Village, 165 Highbluffs Blvd. Columbus, Ohio 43236.
