Ida DeLeon

Ida DeLeon, age 94, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9 at her residence in Feridean Commons. Affectionately known to her family as Oma, she was a devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very proud of her family. She was born January 1, 1929 in Saalbach, Austria. Ida came to the states in 1952 with her husband (Alfred) and son (Fred). Austria was her homeland, but she was very proud when she became a US citizen. She loved being active and enjoyed walking and swimming, even into her later years. She enjoyed traveling and she and Alfred had many memorable adventures together. She had a great sense of humor, a quick wit and her kind and friendly personality was appreciated by all who knew her. After living in the same house in Westerville for 52 years, Ida enjoyed her final years at Feridean Commons. A special thanks to the Feridean staff for their love and support throughout her stay. Survived by her son, Larry (Sheree) DeLeon; brother, Heinrich Hofer; niece and special friend, Margaret Tainschek; grandchildren, Zack (Nikki) DeLeon, Matthew (Rachael) DeLeon, Adrienne (Jon) Scott-DeLeon, Lauren (David) Ziegfeld, Luke (Jamie) DeLeon, Sean DeLeon, Michael DeLeon and nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lisa DeLeon. Preceded in death by her husband Alfred, son Fred, parents Heinrich and Theresia Hofer and four siblings. Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville, Friday June 23 5-7 pm. Memorial service will be held at the Blendon Cemetery Chapel on Saturday June 24 at 11:00 am.
