Checkmate. Hyatt Ralph Messmore, 86, conceded life’s game on January 17, 2013. Born in Akron, Ohio on April 26, 1926, Ralph was a lifetime resident of Kenmore, Ohio. He served in the Army during the European Campaign of WWII and was a former POW. He received his BS from Ohio State University in Horticulture and a BA in Education from the University of Akron. Ralph taught in the Akron Public Schools and was retired from Goodyear Aerospace where he was a member of the United Auto Workers. He was also a member of the Akron Chess Club and Technocracy International. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert, his wife of fifty years, Helen and his eldest son, Thomas O. He is survived by his children, Linda (Michael) Dobbertin of Akron, Deborah (Frank) Gallagher of Overland Park, KS, Timothy (Tawnya) of Galloway, OH, Tammy (Mark) Brncik of Mosinee, WI and Thomas R. of Norfolk, VA, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial interment service will be held on January 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg, Ohio. Arrangements by JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, Centerburg, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
