It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Gregory S. Popp earlier this week. Greg was born February 17, 1962 in Dayton, OH to the late Reinhard Popp and Lilly Schlehuber. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Greg lived a life marked by laughter, compassion, and connection.
Greg was the proud father of two children and a loving Opa to five grandchildren, all of whom were the light of his life. He married Jennifer in 1968 and together they created a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and lasting memories.
A longtime employee of Bank of America as a senior VP, Greg brought dedication and warmth to his work, just as he did to every relationship he touched. He had a gift for conversation and could strike up a meaningful talk with anyone, about anythingalways with humor, empathy, and a twinkle in his eye.
Greg had many passions. He loved animals and treated them like family. He was devoted to health and fitness, and found joy in cookingespecially smoking meats to perfection. Whether he was sharing a meal, a joke, or a story, Greg made people feel at home.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Greg was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Jenny as well as his parents. He is survived by his daughter Danielle (Wesley) McCormick and his son Connor (Alyssa), as well as grandchildren Alyana, Benjamin, Aubrey, Liam and Emilia. He is also survived by 1 brother, 2 sisters and numerous other family members and friends alike.
Greg will be cremated, and his family will honor his memory with a celebration of life, where his warmth, laughter, and spirit will be remembered with love. The celebration will be held Saturday, July 19th from 12 pm to 2 pm at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville, with a service to follow. His ashes will be interred next to Jenny at Blendon Central Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to The American Heart Association https://www.heart.org/en/ or a charity of your choice.

For 5 years, Greg would be the first person I would talk to in the morning and often the last person I would talk to before logging off. We spent so many hours over the phone talking about everything from work to life. He was someone who always embraced doing the right thing, event when it wasn’t always a popular choice. That is a trait that I’m sure he learned to embrace from his late wife Jenny. While I, like so many others, are deeply saddened by his passing, it is comforting to know that many aspects of Greg’s legacy live on through us. From loving animals, to eating quality meats. Every action we take will have a sprinkle of Greg. I will miss him dearly but know that he will always be a part of me. From coworker, to friend. His spirit will live on. Sending so much love to his family during this difficult time.

Danielle and Connor, deepest sympathies on the loss of your Dad. I have fond memories of Cousin Greg when my family took the yearly trek from NJ to Ohio for a visit back in the day. I remember his passion for fitness back then, weights I couldn't handle as a younger cousin, With his love for fishing, he always told me he wanted to be a worm farmer someday when he grew up, but glad to hear he settled on a great job at BofA. I'm so sorry that Greg passed away at such a young age at a time when he should be able to sit back and enjoy life and cherish the moments with his beautiful family and close friends.

In memory of my younger brother, who left us too early. Undoubtedly, he is with our mother and his beloved wife, Jennifer, in heaven. It is only when one who is loved is gone that you truly know what you have lost. Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to our dear colleague and friend, Greg. Greg was not just a co-worker but a true inspiration to all of us. His dedication, humility and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege to work alongside him. Always ready with a helping hand, a warm smile and words of encouragement. I will always remember his remarkable spirit, the laughter we shared and the invaluable lessons learned from him. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his legacy will live on in our hearts and in the work we continue to do. He was one of recruiting team and I shared a special bond with him. My deepest condolences to his family during this time of profound loss. May Greg rest in eternal peace.

Dear Danielle, Connor, family, and friends of Greg. I was deeply saddened to hear about Greg’s passing. I am very sorry for your loss. I can't say enough, about how much I respect and admired Greg as a co-worker and friend. I’ve known Greg since 2021; he was one of the team members who hired me onto our team. I learned a lot from Greg and looked forward every workday to say hello and banter with him. He was a clever, wise, and fun-loving person. He enjoyed sharing the good news about his wonderful adult children, his grandchildren, his friends, and cooking for them all. Praying that Greg rests in peace and that you find strength to help you with your loss. Thinking of you in this most difficult time. Deborah Kushner Bank of America
