SHIELDS
Grace Naomi Shields, age 98, of Westerville, OH, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Manor Care of Westerville. Born August 25, 1912 in Westerville, OH, the daughter of Philip and Agatha Bruning Schott. Graduate of Harlem Township High School class of 1929. She worked at Weekly Reader Corp. until 1957 and later retired from the Columbus Credit Bureau in 1974. Lifetime active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Westerville where she was baptized on Sept. 29th, 1912. Grace is the oldest member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell E. Shields in 1964 whom she married August 21, 1937; brother, Orville Schott and sister, Ruth Shoaf; nephew, Charles Rinehart. Survived by her nieces and nephews, who played a big part of her life as she attended their baptisms, graduations, weddings, etc., Pastor Betsy Schott of Leesburg, FL, Phylis Leppert of Ocala, FL, Doris (Ed) Gluck of Boardman, OH, Norman (Pat) Shoaf of Huntley, IL, Marian (Don) Eberhard of Mechanisburg, OH, Rosalyn Rinehart of Bellefontaine, OH, Ruth Ann Bagley of Gahanna, OH, Tom (Debbie) Shields of Dublin, OH, Russ (Linda) Shields of Westerville, OH, Randy (Terri) Shields of Westerville, OH, Brad (Becky) Shields of Columbus, OH, Richard (Judy) Shields of Sanford, FL, Steven (Shirley) Shields of AR and her adopted nieces and caregivers, Lois (Don) Maxwell and Jean Dewalt of Delaware, OH; sister-in-law, Mid Fredholm and her cousins, Thelma Woods and Dorothy Brenner; many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and especially her namesake Grace Ellie Villa of San Jose, CA. Family and friends may call Sunday, Oct. 10th from 3-6 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville. A service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church 4686 E. Walnut Street, Westerville with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Charlie Woodward officiating. Interment Fancher Cemetery. Contributions in Grace’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
