Private Burial at Bell Tower at Resurrection Cemetery

WESTERVILLE - Nick Boyer , age 75, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on June 14, 2024, after a courageous two-and-a-half-years with glioblastoma.

Nick was born August 5, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to Kathryn and Wendell Boyer. He graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1966, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a Master's degree from Butler University. Nick was a Major in the U.S. Army where he served five years active duty and sixteen years in the Army Reserves and Ohio National Guard. He spent 30 years working in the Psychology Department of the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Hinton. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Genie and their three children, John Boyer, Steve (Emily Weiss) Boyer, and Megan (Ryan) Larkin. He is also survived by his dear grandchildren, Will and Natalie Boyer, Ryleigh, Connor, and Emma Larkin, and Robin and Marion Boyer, as well as his brother, Bob (Lynne) Boyer and best friends, Jim (Carol) Forman and Dave (Debbie) Wonderling.

Nick was known for his compassion and patience, plus his great sense of humor and knack for telling jokes. He was an extremely supportive and hands-on father and grandfather who loved to get down on the floor to play with his grandkids and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren at a play, concert, or game. Nick and Genie loved to travel, and made incredible memories in Ireland, Italy, Amsterdam, and more. Nick was adored by his family and will be missed beyond words.

The family would like to thank Capital City Hospice for their excellent and loving care; especially Melissa, Berthie, and Emma. A private burial service will be held at the Bell Tower at Resurrection Cemetery. Donations in Nick's honor can be made to glioblastomafoundation.org.

Nick & I were classmates at Brookhaven H.S. I didn’t realize he was just 20 days older than me ( my birthdate Aug. 25, 1948). I distinctly remember being in Geometry class with Nick where Mr. TaTa was our teacher. Nick was one of the smartest kids in our class! I am glad to read of his successful & happy life filled with love of family & friends ( Jim Foreman another class mate). Nick had a very positive outlook & a smile on his face. I would like to say it appears “he had a life well spent”. God bless all who loved & knew him as he will be missed…DeDe ( Thompson) Cook Pauley BHS ‘66✝️🙏🏻

Sending all of the Boyer family our deepest sympathies and condolences. You have been the best neighbors any family could have ever asked for. Thank you so much for all you did to help our parents when they needed an assist. We remember fondly the driveway conversations over the years and the chuckles that were shared. We are so sorry to hear about Nick's passing. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Pat, John and Gillian Thomas
