George Francis Hurd, age 81, of Gahanna, OH, died of natural causes in his home on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Preceded in death by his wife Doris Jean Hurd; parents George and Lorena Hurd and sister Betty Hurd. Survived by his three children, Julie (Curwen) Mainous; Francis Hurd; Rose (Danny) Goldach; eight grandchildren and one great grandson due this October. After completing his training at the Art Institue of Chicago, he worked as a sign artist for over 40 years at Columbus Sign Company. His hobbies were traveling with his wife and children, hunting, fishing and cheering on the Buckeyes. In 2004 he was elected into the Ohio School for the Deaf’s Hall of Fame for his achievements in football. He was a founding member and former deacon of Liberty Church of the Deaf. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends; however, we are comforted in knowing he is reunited with his beloved Doris. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Shrock Rd, Westerville, on Friday, September 7th from 5-7 pm where a service will follow at 7 p.m.. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery on Saturday, September 8th at 11 a.m..
