George David Lindimore

We are saddened to announce that George David "Dave" Lindimore, 80, passed away on July 30, 2026.

Dave was born on May 6, 1946, in Zanesville, Ohio, to George Warne and Ruby Fouts Lindimore. He was raised in McConnelsville, Ohio, where he graduated from M&M High School in 1964. As a youth, Dave was active in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Life Scout, and attended the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Colorado in 1960.

During high school, Dave was a four-year letterman in both football, where he played running back, and track and field. He was also a proud member of the Athletic Honor Society. Following graduation, he attended Utah State University for two years before earning his degree from Ohio University.

After college, Dave began his career with the State of Ohio Auditor's Office, specializing in municipal audits. His expertise led him to the City of Westerville in 1976, where he was appointed Finance Director. He faithfully served the City of Westerville for 32 years, first as Finance Director and, from 1985 until his retirement in 2008, as City Manager.

Throughout his distinguished career in public service, Dave worked collaboratively with multiple City Councils and dedicated staff to address complex challenges, ensure effective municipal operations, and implement a long-term vision whose impact continues to benefit the community today.

Dave is widely credited with helping transform Westerville from a bedroom community into a thriving, self-sustaining city with a strong economic tax base. Under his leadership, Westerville annexed 921 acres and made significant investments in roads, water and sewer infrastructure, parks, and electric utilities. His vision helped establish the Westar and Hoff Centers of Business, developments that continue to contribute to Westerville's economic vitality.

Away from his professional life, Dave’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He rarely missed a sporting event whether it be equestrian events or soccer games, and treasured family vacations. An avid golfer, he enjoyed countless rounds with his longtime golfing buddies, especially their annual trips to Pinehurst. In retirement, Dave and Nancy spent their winters in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where he formed many cherished friendships both on and off the golf course.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy; his sons, Aaron Lindimore and Josh Lindimore (Danielle) his grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, and Sam Lindimore; his special daughter, Ellen Wall; her sons, Cooper, Bryce, and Ryan; his brother-in-law, Steve Sherman (Becky); and several nieces and nephews.

Dave will be remembered for his integrity, thoughtful leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and deep devotion to his family and friends. His legacy lives on not only in the community he helped shape, but also in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration on Monday, August 24. A visitation will be held from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, OH 43081.

Following the visitation, all are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Grizzlybird Brewing Co., 5901 Chandler Court, Westerville, OH 43082, where we will come together to share stories, laughter, and memories while honoring a life well lived.
