Gary Richard Lowe

Westerville, OH

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary R Lowe, who departed this life on July 31st at the age of 66.

Gary was born on December 26th, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio to Otis and Emma Jean Lowe. He was a beloved parent, sibling, son, coach and father, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He graduated from West High school in 1977, then attended Muskingum College in 1977. Gary then transferred to Otterbein College from 1978 to 1981, where he majored in accounting and excelled in football. In his professional life he worked as an owner-operator of two small businesses for over 30 years, dedicating his time and talents to family and the community.

Gary was known for his kind heart, strong spirit, outstanding work ethic, dedication to all thing’s sports and his loud infectious laugh.  Gary loved football, fishing, hunting, golfing, reading and coaching his children through their various journeys with sports. Those who knew him will always remember his passion for people.

Gary is survived by sons Matt and wife Abbie, Adam and wife Colleen, daughter Andrea and husband Matt; grandchildren Brock, Zoey, Abby, Kai and CJ.  Sisters Cheri and Carrie, brother Terry, and preceded in death by his parents Otis and Emma Jean.

A celebration of life will be held on August 9th, 2025 starting with a visitation at 11am and a celebration of life beginning at 1pm at Morland funeral home in Westerville. All who knew and loved Gary are welcome to attend and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jacobs House foundation in Gary’s memory.

Gary painted for me on several occasions including my office buildings and home. He was such a pleasure to work with and a very kind and thoughtful person. He will be missed by everyone I’m sure. My thoughts go out to the family….
