Gary Edgar Walker, 86, of Westerville, Ohio died on August 21, 2024.
Born in Nelsonville, Ohio on August 29, 1937 to Edgar and Mary Walker, Gary was a powerhouse of a person with a dynamic and loving spirit, a strong sense of integrity, and a focused drive to be the best at whatever set his mind to do. He also entertained friends and family with a playful sense of humor.
Gary graduated from New Straitsville High School in 1955 and earned an Engineering degree from Ohio University in 1960. While at Ohio University, Gary met both Catherine Smith, whom he would marry in April 1960, and Martha Stevens, whom he would later marry in November 2000.
After college Gary spent twelve years in the Army and Army Reserves, obtaining a rank of Captain. The leadership and strategic thinking skills honed during his military service provided a foundation for a stellar professional career that included being a Project Engineer at with Cooper Bessemer; Engineering and Service Manager with Orenda Inc; Marketing Manager with General Electric; Vice President and General Manager of Delaval Turbine Division; Corporate Vice President of IMO Industries; and President of AC Compressor. Gary retired and moved to Westerville in May 2000.
Gary is survived by his loving second wife of nearly 24 years, Martha Walker; his devoted daughters Sharon Walker and Julie Hey (Ken); brother Ronald Walker (Patricia), grandchildren Andrew, Grace and Lucy Mackin; Jason, Annalise and Marcus Gazda; and step-grandchildren Alden and Keaton Hey; former sister-in-law Ethel Carver (William); stepson David Langenheim (Jennifer); stepdaughter Denise Ferro (Michael); and step-grandchildren Alden and Keaton Hey; John Langenheim; Kristy Long (Elliott); Laura Urbanelli (Anthony). Gary is preceded in death by his first wife Catherine and parents Edgar and Mary Walker.
Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Monday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m.. Entombment Blendon Central Mausoleum.

Martha and family, I was so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I had met with him in the recent months and always loved his commanding presence. He was always so kind and eager to learn about my line of work. Thinking of you as you remember the many great times that you had with him. Sending hugs and love!
