Freelin L. Staley, age 94 years 11months and 18 days, passed away Thursday February 15, 2018 surrounded by his family. A WWII Veteran of the United States Army, retired from the V.A. Hospital in Huntington West Virginia after 30 years of faithful service. His faith was a vital part of his life. He was most recently a member of Genoa Baptist Church and through the years he had been a member of Highlawn Baptist Church and Buffalo Valley Baptist Church both in Huntington West Virginia. Preceded in death by parents Elliott and Bethena (Riggs) Staley, 1 brother, 9 sisters and 1 great grandson Tristan Staley. Survived by wife of 70 years Opal (Thacker) Staley; children Richard (Terri) Staley, Pat (Jim) Deering and Beverly Clevenger; sister Sue (John) Lewis; grandchildren Rick (Tina) Staley, Pam (Jeremy) Fisher, Tim (Tracy) Staley, Carrie (Todd) Gafney and Kelly (Nicole) Teague; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Saturday 1-2 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Scott Lewald officiating. Interment Spring Valley Memory Gardens in Huntington, West Virginia Sunday at 2:00 p.m. followed by a fellowship memorial at Buffalo Creek Baptist Church 872 Buffalo Creek Rd. Huntington, West Virginia 25704.
