Freda A. (Coontz) Townley, age 86, of Westerville, passed away at home on October 19, 2017. Born November 6, 1930 in Worthington, OH to Frank Cleveland and Matha Ellen Coontz. Freda was a 1948 graduate of Westerville High School where she excelled in typing and shorthand. She was employed by Kilgore Manufacturing in Westerville, Arrow Hart Corporation and retired from General Accident Insurance Company. Freda was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward Townley, sons, Kenneth and Richard, brother, William Coontz, sisters, Ruth Townsend Fisher and Helen Wickline. Survived by sons, Michael (Linda) of Westerville, Gary (Mary) of Sunbury and Ronald of Westerville; sister, Dorothy Townley of Westerville; daughters-in-law, Beth Mulpas and Beth Townley; grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan (Amber), Jason, Rachel (Josh), Bradley (Samantha), Bryan, Chad and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Courteney, Hannah, Will, Tyler, Austin, Reese, Larkin, Ethan and Joseph; dear friend, Stella Townsend; several nieces and nephews. Freda enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, bowling and being with family. As a devoted and loving mother, Freda, along with her husband, Ed, raised their 5 sons in their Westerville home of 56 years. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s football, baseball and soccer games, dance recitals, band concerts, birthday parties, graduations, holidays and other special family occasions. Friends and family may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Wednesday 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m., Rev. David M. Redding, officiating. Interment Sunbury Memorial Park. A special thank you to Visiting Angels for the love and care they’ve given over the past years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in Freda’s memory.
