Franklin D. Dowdle, Jr., age 65, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2017. He is survived by his sisters, Sheila M. Turrell, Sylvia Irene Johnson and Dawn N. Assen; his uncles, Melvin Tut Dowdle, James C. Dowdle and George Jenkins; his aunt, Jean Stewart; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Franklin D. Dowdle, Sr. and Cenia (Jenkins) Cox, his maternal grandparents, M. Irene Jenkins and George A. Jenkins, his paternal grandparents, Laura (Barnhart) Dowdle and Elmer Dowdle, his aunts, Lillian V. Bahner and Mildred Midge Talbott, and his uncle Thomas Dowdle. Frankie was a loving, caring, sensitive Christian man. He was exceptionally intelligent, with an extraordinary vocabulary and was an accomplished musician who played numerous instruments, including the piano and the organ, and had a melodic singing voice. He graduated from Cadiz High School in 1970, attended The Ohio State University and served in the United States Navy. He was afflicted with a terrible medical condition that caused him much pain and suffering and robbed him of his talents. Those who loved him pray for peace and happiness for him in the next life. Visitation will be held at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, OH 43081 on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 6-8 p.m.. Visitation will be held at Scott United Methodist Church, Cadiz, OH on Thursday October 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m., Rev. Timothy Monteith, officiating. Shelia, I am so sorry to hear about Frank. Many fond memories of Frank and our high school days. Rest assured he is at peace now and singing with the angels!

I am sorry to hear that Frank was in a lot of pain in his last years. At least now, he can sing his heart out free of pain.
