Frances Adelaide (Harshbarger) McComas, 95, of Westerville, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 28, 1919 in Barboursville, WV, the 12th and last child of the late Joseph and Nellie (Baumgardner) Harshbarger. She married William H. McComas in Huntington, WV on August 7, 1936 and moved a few years later to Ohio where they both work at Curtiss-Wright Aircraft Company during World War II. She was very proud of her service to her country, an original “Rosie the Riveter”. She would continue working as an aircraft assembler at North American Aviation until she retired in 1978. Still wanting to be productive, she went to work for Suzanne’s Plus dress shop nearby and eventually became a store manager and buyer for 15 years. As a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall, she was a member of the choir for many years. After church and family, she loved a clean house, a good game of golf, music, gardening and traveling to her beloved Del Tura winter home in N. Ft. Myers, Fl. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years William H. and siblings Frank, Virgie Mae, Elmer, Raymond, Cecil, Hortense Marie, Ronald, Hubert, Lowen, Howard and Eugenia. She is survived by her only child Billie (McComas) Bower (Robert) and four grandchildren, Valerie (Bruce) Hamill, Victoria (Jeffrey) White, Robert Jr. (Trisha) Bower and William H. Bower; seven great grandchildren David (Robin) Hamill, Ryan (Jessica) Hamill, Ross (Cortney) Hamill, Robert S. Bower, Andrew White, Catherine Bower and Elizabeth White; three great great grandchildren; Dane and Brayden Hamill and Olivia Hamill and another on the way, special friend Pam Ramey, plus many special and loved nieces, nephews and friends.
