Eugene "Gene" James Doon passed away on August 22, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Carole Doon (Gaus); his son, Stephen Doon; daughter, Megan Doon; son in law, Richard Beard, and 6 grandchildren.
Gene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville. His deep faith in God & Heaven brings comfort to his family. Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Doon; his parents; his daughter, Molly Beard (Doon) and 2 grandchildren.
Gene served his country, in the United States Navy from 1957-1960 where he worked on an aircraft carrier. After his service in the Navy, he began working at ABB and married his wife of 58 years, Carole. The couple had three children together, Molly, Stephen & Megan.
In his retirement, Gene embraced his role as a professional grandpa and worked part time at an AMVETS donation center. Gene loved his family and never missed a sporting event, recital or concert. He was a consistent, caring & hardworking man who will be missed by many.
A Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 29th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the VFW at https://heroes.vfw.org/page/21776/donate/1?ea.tracking.id=homepage

I didn’t know Gene well, but, thru Carole, know he was a good man. As I got to know him better I learned Gene had a sense of humor, liked playing golf and was a dedicated Veteran. Rest in peace, Gene.
