Ethel D. Armstrong went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 29, 2022. She was a devoted Christian and humble caregiver to all she loved. Her faith in God was unwavering and her love for her family and friends was unending. For many, Ethel served as a quiet and steadfast support. She was always willing to help those who needed her without any expectations. She served the Lord in the local church and supported missionaries around the world. Her active faith found her participating in the church nursery, teaching Sunday school, leading young missionary workers and other various local church ministries.
Ethel was born April 5, 1937 in Gallia County, Ohio to Donald and Dorcas Dodrill. As the oldest daughter in the family she helped take care of her 4 younger siblings while her older brother John (deceased 2010) helped her father on the farm. Upon high school graduation, she attended Marian College (IWU) where she met and married the love of her life Robert Armstrong and graduated with a degree in education. They settled in Westerville, Ohio where she obtained a masters degree in education from The Ohio State University and raised one son, Robb. Ethel was teaching 4th grade when she retired from Westerville City Schools after 32 years. She was a devoted mother to Robb (who died in 2010) and wife to Robert (who died in 2014).
Surviving are her Aunt Wanda Regan, Uncle Martin Hash, daughter-in-law Danna Armstrong and 2 grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. She is also survived by sisters, Esther Huddle and Etta Hammons; sister-in-law, Phyllis Dodrill; brother, Denver (Marilyn) Dodrill and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; son, Robb and two brothers, John and Delmer Dodrill. Family and friends will be received at Moreland Funeral Home. Calling hours will be January 9th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and service will be held January 10th at 11:00 a.m. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society, World Gospel Missions, or your local church.

Ethel and I became friends in 1948 when my parents moved to Westerville, and I have fond memories of our "hanging" together at school, church and campmeeting. May the Lord comfort all those who loved her and grieve her passing.
