Eileen Petty Beardsley, of Westerville, died peacefully Sunday, September 13, 2015. Born in Franklin County on March 28, 1926, to Howard and Mary Alice Petty. Eileen graduated from Mifflin High School and San Diego State University. She taught elementary school for many years and later owned Beacon Hill Nursery School in Lakeland, Florida. She was an active member of DAR, Colonial Dames, United Empire Loyalists, and First Families of Ohio. Eileen loved music all of her life; in her early years, she enjoyed playing cello with local orchestras. She loved reading, politics, her church, and travel. Eileen had visited all 50 states and 17 foreign countries. Eileen was an active member of Central College Presbyterian Church and was honored to be given a Lifetime Membership to her circle of Presbyterian Women, as well as being named a Woman of Faith. She also enjoyed serving as a Stephen Minister. She was the widow of Paul Eric Beardsley, and the sister of Francis (Maxine) Petty, Louise (Frank) O’Farrell, Neil (Nancy) Petty, Dorothy Jean (Carroll) Davis, and Jim (Sherry) Petty. She will be missed by her children, Ruth Osborn of Columbus, Matthew Osborn of Columbus, and Phyllis (David) Evans of Ft. Worth, Texas. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Anne-Marie Robles of San Sebastian, Spain, Ann Evans and Robley (Brad) Sicard of Ft. Worth, Beth Osborn of Barcelona, Spain, and John Osborn of Columbus, and her special great-grandson, Charlie Sicard. A memorial service will be held at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville, on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 12 Noon. The family sends a special thank you to the Ohio Health Hospice Team.
