On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Dorothy Stewart peacefully passed away at her home in Centerburg at the age of 92. Dorothy was born on August 15, 1931, in Russell, Virginia, to Archie Simpson and Bunie Neda (Carty) Israel. On March 14, 1949, she married Sylvo Stewart.
Dorothy held jobs at Comtrac and Keenes Department store. Besides her dedication to her home and family, she was a devoted, lifelong member of the Centerburg Church of God. Dorothy served as church secretary for 32 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvo; brother, Archie Israel, Jr.; sister, Audrey Ball; son, Bobbie Stewart; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor DeArmond.
She is survived by her son, Tom (Pam) Stewart, and her daughters, Patty Graves and Penny (David) Hartley, all of Centerburg; and her son, Jim (Kip) Stewart of Reynoldsburg. She leaves 8 grandchildren: Amanda Stewart; Trent (Bernadette) Stewart; Craig (Kelly) Stewart; Todd (Megan) Stewart; Chris (Tara) Hartley; Megan (Matt) Weade; Tyler (Ruby) Graves; and Stephanie (Mark) DeArmond; and 18 great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by sisters, Lois Justice and Neda Delpino; and brother, Bill Israel.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Centerburg Church of God. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.
The family suggests contributions to the Centerburg Church of God.

Dorothy was always a bright light in my eyes. I always loved going to Penny and Pattys house, growing up. She was such a sweet lady/mom. She will be missed by all. Hugs to her family. Love you all!
