PRICHARD

Doris Mae Nusskern Prichard passed away on Jan. 11, 2013. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Nov. 10, 1922. As a youth, Doris enjoyed attending church camps and was inspired to study Christian Education. After high school, she worked as a seamstress in a uniform factory then began work as a church secretary. She received a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1956. In 1960, Doris married William Warner Prichard at her church in Pittsburgh, with her minister and Bill’s brother, Norman, a Methodist minister, officiating the service. In 1973, Bill passed away unexpectedly In 1977, Doris returned to school and moved her family to the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, OH. She was ordained as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church in 1978. She received a Master of Divinity degree and Master of Christian Education in 1979. She was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church 1981. Doris served as minister in Methodist churches in the Northeast Ohio Conference. She was a member of the Elizabeth Chapter of Eastern Star, Plain City Lodge where she served as the Worthy Matron of the Lodge in 2001 and as a Grand Page in 2009. She enjoyed helping others and was very proud of her mission trips around the world. She also enjoyed travel with her family to 48 of the states. An avid reader, and always on the go, Doris could not be slowed down in her later years. She continued to drive and worked until her death as a food demonstrator for CDR at Costco on Polaris Pkwy. Doris will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, gentle woman who always put others first, even at the end of her life as her health issues compounded. Preceded in death by husband Bill; son Paul; sisters LaVerne and Bernice; brother Buddy. Survived by daughter Dianne, sons George (Evelyn) and Tim (Sheryl); grandchildren, John, Becky, Ike, Collete, Paul, Chelsea, Josh, Tim, Taylor and Adam; great grandchildren, Terri, Tila Tatum; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-3pm Sun, Jan. 20 at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Dr., celebration of life service to follow at 3pm with a reception afterwards. Rev. Tom Slack officiating.
