Dennis Allen Dean, age 56, on April 25th 2026 went home into the loving arms of Jesus.

He was a loving husband, faithful Son, proud Dad and Papa. Dennis is preceded in death by his father, James Dean, brother-law, Scott Smart, grandmother and grandfather Amanda and Walsh Keener. He is survived by his beloved mother Donna Dean; Melissa, his loving wife and partner of 16 years; siblings Dione (Daniel) Siefer, Donnie (Dana) Dean; daughters Samantha (Joel) Maynard, Amanda (Ross) Meeker and Allison (Rocky) Creighton; step children Tara Cooper, Selena Cooper, Jacob (Erica) Cooper, Victoria Short; grandchildren Jaysean, Joey, Jaxson, Levi, Tommy, Quinn and arriving soon, Murphy; extended family; and work family at Kroger.

Denny was the definition of fun. Whether he was playing guitar or drums, fishing, camping, golfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, swimming, biking, or trying any other activity, he always found a way to enjoy life and bring joy to those around him. With a deep appreciation for God’s creation, he was happiest outdoors.

In 1992, Dennis pursued his love of snowboarding and moved to the Colorado mountains. He returned to Columbus in 1995 after the birth of his first daughter, and his next two daughters were born in the years that followed. Dennis was a devoted and loving father, sharing his passion for adventure, laughter, and great music as they grew up.

In 2008, Dennis met the love of his life, Melissa, at work. With her, he gained not only a life partner but four wonderful bonus children. Dennis and Melissa shared nearly 17 beautiful years together.

Adored by his seven grandchildren, “Papa Denny” found his greatest joy in wrestling on the floor, building forts,  and playing games with them. He was deeply loved and cherished, a truly wonderful grandfather.

Hardworking and dedicated, Dennis spent 35 years with Kroger, where he made lifelong friends.

Denny came to faith in Jesus at a young age and held onto his faith throughout his life. We imagine that today Denny is enjoying more jam sessions, fishing, hiking, snowboarding and adventure in the presence of his loving Father in heaven, free from any pain or sadness. Revelation 21:4 “‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, April 29th from 6:00-8:00p.m at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville. The Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 30th starting at 10:00a.m. at Moreland Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Blenden Cemetery, 6330 South Hempstead Road, Westerville. Reception will follow at Westerville Free Will Baptist Church at 390 East College Ave. Westerville, Ohio 43081.

Donna, Dione and Donnie...though it has been many years since we last connected, my heart grieves with you. I will be praying that GODS grace will sustain you as you walk this path of grief. I offer 2 Corinthians 5:8 as a word of encouragement "Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord" LOVE YOU ALL.
