Dean Ray Hoppe, 78, of Westerville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in his summer home in Marblehead, Ohio. He was born March 26,1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Raymond A. and Catherine E. Hoppe. He was a proud member of Boy Scouts of America, achieving Eagle Scout rank and graduate of Columbus North High School. He studied art at The Ohio State University, before serving his country in The United States Marine Corp. Dean was a founding member of the Harlem Township Fire Department. Between 1974 – 1986 he served as EMT, Assistant Chief and Chief. Besides his wife of 55 years, Carol, survivors include daughters, Cheryl Shilling (Henry), Lisa Crone (Brad) and Deana (Summer) Hoppe; a brother, Dale Hoppe and sister, Diane (John) Hoppe; grandchildren, Raeven, Mary (Sergio), Robbie, Henry (Drusilla); great grandchildren, Maggie, Henry, Katie, Julian, and Sophia. Dean enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Marblehead, Ohio and escaping the Ohio winters in Arcadia, Florida. He loved boating, fishing, spending time with family and friends and living life. He believed strongly in always having room for ice cream no matter how filling the meal. Friends may call Thursday, July 21st from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m.

Dean Old Friend”
I am glad I spoke with you a few days ago.
We met in 1962 ,at Western Electric. We car pooled together, we became friends. We did gun club together we did many travels thru life. We traveled to buy cars, motorcycles, boats. We traveled thru life together shared family stories, vacations, boating, our joys, our pain.
God bless you and your family thru their sorrow.
You were my best friend thru most of my life.
All our talks, I’ll miss you my friend.
