David Brian Love (63) of Mount Gilead Ohio finished his last watch and read his last book on March 19 th at Riverside Hospital in Columbus Ohio. Preceded in death by his mother Lavonne Love, grandparents Roscoe and Grace Love and Virgil and Bessie Perry and niece Courtney Short. Survived by his father Roscoe Love Jr, siblings Loren (Jennifer), Kathy (Phil) Short, and Jeff Love, as well as nephews Ryan (Carly) Love, Trevor (Lauren) Short, and nieces Kelsey (Nick) Skrobot and Lindsey (Jon) Fausey. Also surviving Dave are his longtime friend Tim (Marie) Butcher, and two children he helped raise, Claire and Bradley Butcher.
After graduating from Westerville High School Dave was honored to serve his country as part of the 22 nd Marine Amphibious Unit and was deployed to Beirut Lebanon and Grenada in the 1980’s. He returned to civilian life and worked at Nationwide Insurance as an armed security officer while pursuing a commission in law enforcement. He built on his law enforcement experience with the Alexandria and Gahanna police departments. Dave moved up to work at Nationwide Insurance’s Data Center as a computer operator but longed for a freer lifestyle. Fate smiled at Dave and he was able to retire early and devote himself to camping, hiking , reading and caring for the many animal friends he found around him for the rest of his life. Beside his family and friends, Dave leaves behind his constant dog and cat companions, Quincy and Nibbles.
