Daniel Charles McColley, affectionately known as Danny, was born on May 07, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, and passed away on October 25, 2024 in Westerville, Ohio. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dan cherished every moment spent with his family and filled his life with love, laughter, and kindness.

He proudly serviced in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and spent his professional life as a master carpet installer and certified flooring instructor. Known for his humor, Dan was the King of the Dad Joke, always leaving a smile on the faces of those around him (or drawing a slide glance from his daughters). He had a passion for singing, dancing, and gardening. Dan enjoyed a good meal, including his wife’s pot roast and Skyline Chili.

Married to the love of his life Stephanie (nee Yarnell) McColley since June 11, 1964, the two shared the kind of relationship that people strive for. Dan was the proud father of three daughters: Kim (Rob) Basile, Shelly (Guy) Miller, and Jenny (Bob) McClintock. He was a doting grandfather to Niki (Drew) Cloran, Ashley (James) Dabe, Grant Miller, and Wes McClintock, as well as a loving great-grandfather to Reid Cloran, Isla Cloran, and Gwen Dabe.

Dan had a special fondness for music, particularly the sounds of Willie Nelson and The Ohio State Marching Band. He was an avid fan of Ohio State Football and the Cleveland Browns, and he enjoyed watching shows like Homestead Rescue and America’s Got Talent. His love for Ireland and special moments with his wife, Stephanie, were dear to his heart.

Dan is survived by his loving family, including his siblings, Mary Blackburn and Gary Goodchild and brother-in-law, Jesse (Laura) Yarnell and nieces Nancy (Troy) Stanley, Jayme Yarnell and Randee Yarnell and many cousins, nieces, nephews and others. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert McColley and Doris (nee Cummings) Goodchild and his brother Jimmy McColley.

His legacy of love, dedication, and humor will continue to brighten the lives of all who knew him. A devoted Catholic, he preferred tradition, but still thrived in the chaos of a houseful of women.

His proudest accomplishment were his children, who carry forward his spirit of kindness and joy. Dan will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the happiness he brought into the lives of others. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org
