In Loving Memory of Curtis H. Tate

Curtis H. Tate, age 86, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.

Born to Orlia and Juanita Tate, Curtis lived a life centered around family, friendship, hard work, and the simple joys that brought people together. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marlene Tate; his parents, Orlia and Juanita Tate; his brother, Orlia “Art” Tate Jr.; his sister, Ladonna Susan Tate; his brothers-in-law, Harry Grizzell and Ken Staub; and his son-in-law, Thomas G. Scanlan.

Curtis is survived by his loving children, Debbie Scanlan, Kevin Tate, and Scot (Christy) Tate. He is also survived by his sister, Juanita Grizzell; his brother-in-law, Dan Staub; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Curtis proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years of his career to American Greetings before retiring. He took great pride in his work and the friendships he made throughout the years.

Family was always at the center of Curtis’s life. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and took immense pride in watching his family grow through the generations. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He also enjoyed watching golf and NASCAR races, finding relaxation and excitement in following his favorite athletes and drivers.

More than anything, Curtis was a devoted father and a true friend. His family will remember him not only for his love and support but also for his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering presence in their lives. Following the loss of his beloved Marlene, he missed her deeply and often spoke of the love they shared throughout their 58 years of marriage. While his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in knowing that God has reunited Curtis and Marlene, allowing them to be together once again.

Dad, you will be missed beyond words and loved forever. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

A life well lived, a love well shared, and a legacy that will never be forgotten.

A Prayer Service will be held Monday, June 29th at 1:00p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home followed by a committal service at Blendon Central Cemetery.

Following the funeral service and burial, family and friends are invited to gather at Curtis’s home for a time of fellowship and remembrance. Food and refreshments will be provided as we celebrate his life, share memories, and honor the lasting impact he had on all who knew and loved him.
