FISTER

Claude Vincent “Vince” Fister, Jr., 74, of Westerville Ohio, passed away peacefully, in his home on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with his beloved wife, Anita, at his side as well as his well-loved caregiver, friend and sister-in-law, Chris. Vince was born on October 4, 1942, in Lexington, Kentucky to Claude Vincent Fister, Sr. and Elizabeth (Sloane) Fister. He attended Lexington Catholic High School where he was a member of the award-winning debate team and was recognized for superior achievement and citizenship traits. Vince was inducted into the National Honor Society, was awarded the National Chemistry Medal and was honored by being named Senior Class Boy of the Year. He went on to study Accounting and Human Resources at the University of Kentucky where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. As a young man, Vince served his country by serving in the United States National Guard. Vince ‘Sonny’ worked alongside his father and brother in the family-owned and still operating Vincent Fister, Inc. Moving & Storage in Lexington, KY for several years before he relocated his family to Columbus, Ohio where he followed in his father’s footsteps. Vince would soon own several successful moving and storage companies. He later fulfilled his dreams and passion for horses and the outdoors by establishing a thriving farm and horse racing operation, Squires Glen Farm, in Westerville, Ohio and served as President of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association. An entrepreneur at heart, Vince was the hardest working man anyone could ever meet. He was a gifted storyteller and loved sharing tales of his boyhood bee-keeping endeavors, the raising of carrier pigeons and young years lived out in Lexington, KY. His legacy lives on not only in his achievements but in the hearts of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who have experienced life as he did – riding horses down oak tree-lined lanes, picking wild flowers, watching horses scatter across fields, fishing, hunting, wandering farmland and exploring nature. Vince is survived by Anita, his wife of 40 years. He was very loving and proud of all 6 of his children. He is survived by daughters, Renee (Randell) Lee of Clayton, NC; Susan (Rich) Breeden of Columbus, OH; Nancy (Rick) Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM; and son, John (Kimberlee) Fister of Uncasville, CT; his dear grandchildren, Nick (Ashlynne), Corey and Cameron Lee; Jonathan and Lydia Fister; Robert and Geoffrey Reimer; Kai and Chloe Breeden; Gabriel, Abbyanne, and Julian Gonzales; and his great-grandson, Hayden Reimer; brother Mike (Kathy) Fister, sisters, Cecilia Cece Fister and Phyllis Newman ; sisters-in-law, Christine Baker, Patricia Frye and brother-in-law, Joseph (Edith) Humphrey as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Vince was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Robert Young; his daughter, Theresa Terry Fister; and his son, Paul Robert Kilian. With deep gratitude, the family wishes to thank Kathy and Kraig White, Janet and Bob Wingate, Soung Yu, Linda Senser, Robert Lindsay and Jenny Walter and so many others who touched our family’s heart, for their love, support and friendship. Vince, Dad, Pops, Papa, Grandpa, Sonny, ‘Boss’, and Uncle Vince was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 4 p.m., Pastor Soung Yu, officiating.
