Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home

Charlotte Anne Berryman died at her residence in New Albany, Ohio. She was only 73 years old. Her family and friends are deeply saddened by the loss.

Charlotte was born on August 16, 1949 in Franklin, Ohio. She attended Franklin High School and went on to continue her education at the University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Education. Charlotte's zest for life was reflected in all areas of her life, no matter what she was pursuing.

Post-college, she began her career with Limited Inc. and became a top buyer, helping to open many stores in the company's early stages. She also loved to sell Mary Kay cosmetics, developing many wonderful friendships that she sustained for many years. Her passion for English literature and helping children led her to spend several summers teaching high school students. Over the last 30 years she enjoyed a career as a real estate appraiser in Columbus and surrounding areas.

Growing up as the only girl in a family of four siblings, Charlotte loved to tag along outside with her brothers whenever she could. She also loved acting, playing piano and singing, and she participated in many high school plays. One of her greatest loves was flying, which led her to earn her pilot's license in her late teens. She further went on to revisit the air as a flight attendant for Republic for several years in her early sixties. No matter what career-path she took, she was a devoted "Grammy" and spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren. She could be found at dance recitals, academic and sporting events, and countless other activities around town.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ihle; stepfather, Paul Drake; and husband, Josef Schaffer. Charlotte is survived and missed by her mother, Joan Drake; ex-husband, Robert Berryman; and their children, Brooke (Ross) Samuels, Keri (Shep) Thomas and Jodie (Youssef) Hanna. She is also survived by brothers, Robert Ihle, Bruce (Linda) Ihle and Randall Ihle; by stepsons Scott Shaffer, Rick (Diane) Shaffer and Rodney (Deb) Shaffer; and will be forever cherished and remembered by her numerous treasured grandchildren; Sophia, Carson, Isabella, Jack, Zach, Charlie and Youssef II. Further, she is survived by her beloved Schaffer grandchildren, Blake, Kyle, Savannah, Delaney, Kalista, Vanessa, Britni, Katlyn, Lauryn, Nicole, Natalie, and Tyler.

A public visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 th , at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville, OH. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.

Dearest Charlotte - Since I met you so many years ago at Director Training in Dallas for MK, you have been a shinning star to our family. Our children all grew up together and called you Aunt Charlotte. There are so many memories and I cherish every one. When you and Chuck got together the tears would roll down our cheeks from laughter. I will miss you dearly and know Chuck and you are both in heaven smiling down and laughing your heads off from above. You will always be one of my dearest friends whom I admired so very much. Thoughts and prayers to your family during this most difficult time. Love, Chris

I am still in shock, as I’m sure you all are too. Words cannot express how much Charlotte meant to me and how much I will miss her. She was truly one of my best friends, we were kindred spirits. I know that she’ll be staying close to all of us as we continue to navigate life. While we wish she was here with us, she’s definitely relaxing on a beach in paradise with lots of cute cabana boys in view 😉 Love you all. Love you Charlotte.
