Catherine Gerhardt

Catherine B. Gerhardt, age 93, of Westerville, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, Wayne County Care Center, Wooster, OH. Born in Wilkinsburg, PA to Marion and Elmer Barnhart. She was a retired musician and homemaker. Earned Master of Music degree from Eastman School of Music. Member of Church of the Messiah United Methodist, Westerville and the Team Mates Sunday School class. Cellist with the Atlanta, North Carolina and Columbus Symphonies. Taught music at Shorter College, Florida State University, Capital, Dennison and Otterbein College. Member of Columbus, Ohio Unit of Wally Byam Caravan Club. Survived by her children, Cindy Horn, Jonathan Gerhardt and Susan Gerhardt; granddaughter, Alison Horn; sister-in-law, Charlotte Sobottke; nieces, Ruth Havens and Blanche Sobottke; grand-nieces, Emily and Sarah Havens. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 2-4 p.m.. Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Church of the Messiah United Methodist, 51 N. State Street, Westerville. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Central Ohio Spina Bifida Alliance.
