Carolyn Jean Calvert Bonome (née Gibson) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She peacefully left this world on August 19, 2024 at the age of 90. She is survived by her two sons, Rick and Jeff (Mary), her five grandchildren Richard (Crystal), Leann Brown (Bill), Michael (Karisma), Rachel Marks (Ross), and Daniel, her three great-grandchildren Kyle, Fallon, and Finley, and many friends.
She was born on April 12, 1934. She attended Curry high school in Walker County Alabama and at the young age of 17 she married her late husband, Ferrell Calvert. She later married Ralph Bonome, lived in Westerville for many years, and then moved to Foley, Alabama. She eventually moved back to Westerville to be near her Ohio relatives.
Carolyn loved spending time reading the Bible, caring for her dog Charlie, and watching Alabama football on Saturdays. She also taught Sunday school at the Westerville First Baptist Church. To many who knew her, she was a “sweet and charming southern lady”. As her health declined, she adored the nurses and aids who prayed with her and gave her lots of hugs.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 am on August 24, 2024 at the Moreland Funeral home in Westerville, Ohio. Visiting hours begin at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind on her behalf. This organization provides guide dogs for the blind.
