Carol H. Pfanz, age 57, of Westerville died at home on April 26, 2011 after an eighteen-month battle with cancer. Carol was born in Carmi, Illinois and lived in Illinois and Wyoming before her family settled in New Orleans, Louisiana. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Louisana State University and a master’s degree at McDaniel College in Maryland after which she pursued a career in deaf education both in the United States and abroad. While teaching in Frankfurt, Germany, Carol met Lieutenant Colonel Frederick W. Pfanz, whom she married in 1984. The couple has three children; Sarah, John and Matthew. The family moved to Westerville in 2000. Carol was active in Westerville City School PTAs as well as the Westerville South High School Theater Boosters for over a decade. She is survived by her husband, children and sister, Nancy Stroud of Aurora, Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30th at Grace Lutheran Church, 100 East Schrock Road Westerville. The family will also receive visitors the hour prior to the service. Arrangements by the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, Westerville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
