WILLIAMS

Carl Anderson Williams, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2012 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Carl retired from Rockwell International where he worked as a machinist implementing engineering tests on materials for aircraft and aviation-related devices. He was devoted to his wife, Elsie, of 54 years who was ever-present for his amateur bowling activities spanning the 1950s into the 1970s. His accomplishments included winning multiple local and statewide tournaments, eight sanctioned 300 games, one sanctioned 800 series, a multitude of sanctioned 700 series, and induction into the Columbus Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame. Later in life he fell in love with golf, applying to the game the same analytical approach he applied to his work and to bowling. He enjoyed golf for as long as he was physically able to play. Preceded in death by wife Elsie Marie (Weisend) and sister Cathy (Sam) Murphy. Survived by daughter Karen (John) Luther, son Carl (Joan) Williams, brother George (Mary) Williams, brother Alfred Williams, grandson Gregory (Elizabeth) Gee, grandson Michael (Andrea) Gee, and great-grandsons Kevin, Garrett, Nicholas and Jacob. A memorial service will be held at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday, June 1st at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Susan McCrystal officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HomeReach Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH, 43214.
