HARRINGTON
Carl Miller Harrington, age 90, of Columbus, OH, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 at Friendship Village of Columbus. He was married to Margie, his wife of 70 years. Margie recently passed away on January 24th, 2010. Retired from Jeffery Manufacturing Co. after 48 years as a Design Engineer. While there he created four new ideas, resulting in four new patents for the company. Carl remained creative and inventive throughout his life. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific campaign with the U.S. Army. He was active in Toastmaster’s International where he served as District Governor, was instrumental in Toastmaster’s working with the Boy Scouts of America, receiving many awards from them. He was awarded a Kentucky Colonel designation; belonged to the Math Club (the men’s division of the Clintonville Women’s Club); was a founding member of Oakland Park United Methodist Church and was active with the design and construction of the church building. Carl’s wife and their family and friends spent 45 years of happy summers at their wilderness cabin in Canada located at the mouth of the French River and Georgian Bay. Preceded in death by his wife Margie, three brothers, Floyd, Wendell and Orville, two sisters, Dorothy Ballard and Betty Wilson and brother-in-law, David Ballard. Carl was a devoted husband and father and his passing is a great loss to daughter, Brenda (Ronald) Dean; grandchildren, Sarah Burdge, Julie Burdge, Jason Burdge and their families: Kimberly Burdge, Julie Ann Kriegler, Shay Weer and great-granddaughter, Zoe Kriegler-Wenk; his sister-in-law, Barbara Cahill; Harold Wilson; sister-in-law, Donna Harrington and their families and brother-in-law, Kenneth Reiselt, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville where a service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m.. Rev. David Hogg officiating. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
