Burial
Greenhill Cemetery
Betty L. Seevers, age 78, with family by her side, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2024, following a courageous battle with dementia. Betty was born on May 27, 1945, in Sunbury, Ohio. Betty graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1963 and married her high school sweetheart in a ceremony at Galena United Methodist Church on June 25, 1965. She was a secretary for a title agency in downtown Columbus, but eventually left her profession behind to raise a family. Later in life, she also worked for Cheryl's Cookies. She loved the time spent there and the many friends she made as a result. Betty received many recognitions and awards for her hard work within her department. She enjoyed the friendship and comradery on the many company cruises she attended while working for Cheryl - thank you Cheryl Krueger.
Betty lived to love her kids and grandchildren, and dogs. It was a source of great pride. She was a protector, provider, teacher, and a strong woman who raised three kids that ate her out of house and home. Despite being a private person, she never passed up an opportunity to tell others about her "boys" and their families. She was a proud wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. The many family adventures have provided her family with special memories. It did not take long for her contagious laughter to take over whenever a story of the adventures was told.
Betty had many hobbies throughout life, including hunting and fishing. Like her mother, she loved to cook, bake, garden, can food, sew, quilt, knit and write letters to family and friends. She even served as an unofficial seamstress to the Columbus Division of Police Honor Guard. When the Division or surrounding agencies lost an officer in the line of duty, Betty would make mourning bands for badges as well as ceremonial beacon covers and shrouds for the services. Without hesitation, she would take measurements for the beacons and complete the covers and shrouds on a moment's notice and, until now, without recognition. Later in life, she found enjoyment in painting, just as her father did. And like her parents, she also found peace sitting in a rocking chair or porch swing watching butterflies, birds, and other wildlife.
Betty is preceded in death by her father and mother, Raymond and Ona Jahn; her husband, David Seevers, and her beloved beagle, PJ. She is survived by her sons, John (Lynn) Seevers, Gregg (Autumn) Seevers and Mark (Kristy) Seevers; grandchildren, Max, Jake, Ben, Logan, Haley, Laney, and Aubrey; sister, Carol (Keith) Ashbrook; brother, Terry (Treba) Jahn; her favorite squirrel chasing dachshund, Lily; and numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends. Betty and her family would like to thank the staff and nurses at The Ganzhorn Suites as well as the nurses at Capital City Hospice for their empathy, thoughtfulness, understanding and care.
The family honored Betty's wishes with a private service provided by Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio on Friday, February 23, 2024, followed by a service at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown, Ohio. The services were officiated by Pastor Ryan Skelton of the Galena United Methodist Church.
At Betty's request, in lieu of flowers for the family, donations can be made in her honor to Canine Companions North Central Training Center, via their website, https://canine.org/ or the Galena United Methodist Church, http://www.galenachurch.org/ .

Dear Seevers Family, I grew up in Galena, knew your grandparents well and went to school with your parents. You were blessed with a wonderful family. Without a doubt, your Mom gave everything she had to “her boys.” May you find comfort in knowing how proud she was of you and in all your many memories of your life growing up with such a great Mom. My deepest sympathy to you all.
