Bertha Bottorff, age 98, formerly of Mt. Vernon, OH and New Albany, IN, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018. Survived by daughters, Margaret (John) Crawford and Mary (Roger) Shiflet; sister, Clara Helen (Patrick) Quinkert; many grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Oscar; sons, John, Nicholas, Stephen and Brian; 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, January 26th at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville followed by The Liturgy of the Word at 11:00 a.m.. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

When I visited Bertha Sunday at the Manor, she was not able to receive Communion, and she was somewhat non-responsive. However, I prayed and gave her a blessing, asking God to take her home.
One thing she often said about her mother: “Now Bertha, this is the way it is to be done”. She never stated what that referred to.
I enjoyed visiting with her.
My regrets for not being with you and families today. Duties call to be elsewhere.
