"Celebration of Life" Saturday, May 21st from 12-3pm Giammarco's Italian Resturant

Ardythe "Ardie" Ann Smith Hackman passed away unexpectedly after surgical complications on April 8, 2022, at Dublin Methodist Hospital. She was surrounded by her family.

Born to the late Donald and Jo Ann Smith on July 28,1948, Ardie was a lifetime Westerville girl and a friendly fixture around town. She was a 1966 graduate of Westerville High School and enjoyed lifetime friendships with many of her classmates.

Ardie had a variety of artistic talents. She could draw, paint, and sculpt. She had a singular talent when it came to gardening. She could create gorgeous outdoor landscapes seemingly from nothing, and did so for her friends, family, and even some Westerville businesses. She loved listening to music, including Simon & Garfunkel, Joan Baez, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Mamas & Papas and more.

Ardie is survived by sons Chad Head ("Michelle") and Geoffrey (Tammy), sisters
Donna Hance (Frank) and Mary Michelle Smith, many nieces and nephews, her sweet dog Fannie, and many dear friends.

I will miss Ardie every day of my life! I still want to call her and make plans for breakfast, lunch and/or shopping! We have been close friends since 1970. She was one of a kind and so special! Her sons and I will now have to settle for memories of all the fun time and laughs we had over the years! I’m always here for you Chad and Geoffrey! Much love, Lynne

I adored Ardie! For many of my most challenging years, she was like my mother. I always knew I could go to her for sound advice, as well as a needed laugh. I truly will miss her spirit, wit, friendship and laughter. RIP, Ardie

I am so SAD to hear this. Enjoyed talking to her at the Class reunions. God Bless her. May her Spirit & Soul live forever.

Heather Dugan (Hartzell) - Apr 14, 2022

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Our loss (speaking of all who knew her) —Ardie was truly a kind-hearted, genuine soul. Was so pleased to reconnect in 2019 after our lives had drifted in different directions. Was just thinking of her last week and thinking we were overdue for a catch-up conversation. So sad that opportunity has passed. She was so very proud of her kids —Chad and Geoffrey, you were part of almost every conversation Ardie and I shared. 💜 Please let me know the date of the Memorial.

Carrie Thornburg Bearse - Apr 14, 2022

I originally heard the "Ardie" stories from my sister, Cathy Smith (also passed), who was her neighbor on Mohican Way. My sister had so much fun with Ardie. I was fortunate to meet her and spend a little time with her at my niece's (Whitney Smith) bridal shower several years ago. Ardie lived up to the stories...funny, engaging and sincere. I will miss knowing she is in this world making people laugh and smile. My condolences.

Tony and Cheryl Pinto - Apr 13, 2022

Our friendship spans some 65+ years. While we don't often get to speak to one another, I often think of Ardie and the family. She and I would sometimes see each other at Bon Cher while Cheryl and I were there. She and your family hold a special place in my heart and a hope for peace and acceptance beyond.

Jane - Apr 12, 2022

I hope they find peace

Carolyn Myers - Apr 11, 2022

The WHS class of 1966 will miss our friend and classmate. Rest In Peace, Ardie.
