Amy Jean (Atwood) Groseclose, age 100, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many.
She was born on March 25, 1925 in Genoa TWP Ohio to Lawrence "Buck" Atwood and Catherine "Nornie" Atwood. She was the eldest of four children. After moving to the farm in Galena, Ohio, she spent many of her days doing chores and enjoying the farm life. Attending Harlem High School, Amy met the love of her life, Jack. They eloped to Greenup, Kentucky and were married October 16th, 1942.
Jack joined the military at age 17 and fought in the second world war. He earned a Bronze Star for his duty. Amy stayed home and took care of their new baby.
Amy was known for contagious laughter that filled a room. Not a day went by where she wasn't laughing or making someone laugh. She whistled while she worked and enjoyed the little things in life. She took time to appreciate nature, and was often found gardening, hiking in the woods and feeding any animal that visited her yard. She loved to shop, visit garage sales, sled down a big snowy hill, ride the ocean waves, listen to Dean Martin and Tom Jones, and play Euchre. Everyone was welcomed in her home and made to feel a part of her big family.
Amy was a member of the Harlem Road Church. Her life was a beautiful testament of her love for the Lord and her family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She celebrated her 100th birthday in her home with a house full of her family and cherished friends over the years. She is leaving a legacy of love that will be passed on for generations to come.
Amy will be forever remembered by her four boys and daughter-in-laws, Mike and Carol, Claude (Denny), Jack and Jo Ann, Jeff and Terrie; sister, Mary Day; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Atwood; her adoring grandchildren, Dennis (Stacy), Chad (Jill), Dan, Jennifer (Erik) Koval, Kim (Jon) Allen, Eric, Joe (Bekah), Matt ( Kayla), Laura (Michael) Hill, Abby (Fred), David (Laura) Moore, Lindsey Moore and Taura Huxley. Amy also has 18 great-grandchildren.
Amy is preceded in death by parents, Buck and Nornie Atwood; husband, Jack Groseclose; brothers, James "Jim" and Robert "Bob", and daughter-in-laws, Becky and Kathy Groseclose.
