Allen M. Rumer, age 78, of Westerville, passed away September 15, 2017 at Riverside Hospital due to complications of pneumonia. With clarity of mind and presence in the moment, Allen shared words of love and caring with his family that will be cherished forever. Allen graduated from Belmont High School, attended Ohio University, Franklin University and Columbus State. He was also a military veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Allen is survived by the love of his life, wife Joan; cherished daughters, Natalie (David) Schafer and Jennifer Rumer, six grandchildren (the lights of his life), Justin Young, Lauren (Michael) Della Flora, Tiffany and Logan Schafer, and Marissa and Blair Bocook with whom he enjoyed much merriment and laughter, three loving sisters, Glenna (David) Olexa, Linda Rumer and Mary Alice (Fred) Adkins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Redda Rumer. Allen loved Buckeye football, his cat Corky and reading. He also loved Central College Presbyetrian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Road, Westerville where visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Dr. Richard Ellsworth officiating.
