Alfred DeLeon, 84, of Westerville, passed away on Saturday, October 8th at HCR Manor Care. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring, dedicated husband, father, and doting “Opa”. He was born on November 24, 1926 in Houston, Texas. Al retired in 1969 as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army, having served 26 years which included WW11 and tours of duty in Europe and Korea. Al was a giving person, always there to help when anyone needed him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Alfred, brother Raymond and son Fred DeLeon. He is survived by wife, Ida, son Larry (Sheree), sister Almeda DeLeon of Houston, grandchildren Zachary (Nikki), Matthew (Rachael), Adrienne, Lauren, Luke, Sean and Michael, 5 great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Lisa DeLeon. We will miss his humor, wit and words of wisdom! Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday October 13 at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road Westerville. Service and internment will be at 2:00 pm Friday October 14 at the Chapel at Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Al’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans , PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 (www.dav.org).
