Mary Lou Bates
Dear Alan, Wanda, Rick, Carol and all of the other family members,
I am so sad that I can’t be there tonight or tomorrow. Clonna was one of my favorite aunts and since we both shared the same birthdate, just different years, even from childhood and on thru the years, I always felt such a connection and love with her. I have so many wonderful memories of her and all of you, so they are a help to me now, dealing with my own sorrow. I would like to include the following poem that I think is so very fitting:
God saw she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around her
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer
And saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
