Return to Condolences

I got to know Jess when her family moved to the farm in 50s. It was just a short walk along St. Rt. 53 and through the corn field to the farm house. We had great times playing together as she had really neat games under her bed. We also founded and were the only two members of the Hooded Gang. Our meeting place was an old hog shed behind the orchard and near the woods. It had probably been last used in the 30s or 40s. It had a window….well space for a window and Jess’s father, my uncle John put plaster board inside. We painted it red and green because that was what was available. We planned raids and “special events” for July 4th. She was very imaginative and encouraged others to dream a bit too. What fun. Thank goodness we never ran into neighbor Bretz’s bull.
