Thomas Owen Tarpey 76, of Westerville, Ohio passed away peacefully at his residence in Hospice Care with loving family at his side. He was born on October 31, 1940 in Columbus Ohio to Thomas B and Mary (Heim) Tarpey who precede him in death. Tom graduated from Columbus Aquinas High School class of 59. Tom was well known with in the Kroger Company for his 50 year relationship with the company, an accomplishment he cherished with great pride. Tom was a huge sports fan always cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Scarlet and Gray of Ohio State. Tom loved to play golf, especially with his two sons and more recently with his grandchildren. He was also a very accomplished bowler, competing in several leagues until his illness would not allow. Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Donna (Bringardner) Tarpey; sons, Daniel (Melanie), Steven (Paula); brother, Jerry (Jean) Tarpey. Tom was affectionately known as Papa Chief to his six grandchildren, Danielle (David) Winters, Elissa, Nicholas, Lauren, Madison, and Olivia and great granddaughter, Ella Rose Mae and many nieces and nephews. The Tarpey family would like to offer their sincere heartfelt thanks to the Hospice Services at Methodist Elder Care, especially Nurse Terry Murphy, Chaplain Bruce Benzing, along with Robin, Nancy, Jill, Ann and Misty. Family will welcome friends Wednesday, June 21st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Rd Westerville Ohio 43081 where a service will be held Thursday, June 22nd at 12 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be sent to Hearts for Hospice Services at Methodist ElderCare visit www.methodisteldercare.com and the St. Judes Foundation for Children.
