KIMBALL

Walter A. Kimball died peacefully on September 26, 2016 at age 101. Born June 26, 1915 to Alma O. and Walter A. Kimball in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During the depression his family moved from Grand Rapids, MI to a farm. There he learned that hard work along with Mother Nature could produce everything you needed to live – he called it his Garden of Eden. A decorated Captian (Purple Heart and Croix de Guerre) in the 100th Infantry Division that broke through the Maginot Line to take Bitche, France. Many Army reunions maintained lifelong friendships among the “Sons of Bitches” of Company D. “To this day I haven’t forgotten a face”. A true patriot. A long career with Minneapolis Moline/White Motor Co. moved his family all over the Mid-West. Each state (MI, IL, MN, IA, and OH) had its Big 10 football fan base, but he never turned away from the University of Michign. As a resident of Columbus, OH, he never waivered: GO BLUE. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen (Davis) and son, David A. Kimball. Survived by his daughter, Jane (Jack) Pore and daughter-in-law, Karen Kimball; grandchildren, Douglas, Nancy and Steve Pore, Stefan (Margot) and Sean (Liane)Kimball; granddaughter-in-law, Andrea Pore; great-grandchildren, Clara Jane Pore, Jack Stanton Pore, Annika, Olivia and Clara Linden Kimball; dear nieces, Sally Matteson and Susan (Jeff) Lowery. Service will be held at Willow Brook Christian Home, 55 Lazelle Road, Columbus, OH 43235 Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10 a.m.. Private interment Lake Havasu City, AZ. Friends, if they wish, may make memorial contributions to Willow Brook Christian Home.
